75th Season Announcement

Featuring Ravel’s Bolero, The Planets, Tchaikovsky’s “Pathétique” Symphony, and much more

Thank you for supporting Chad Goodman’s first season as Music Director of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. This musical partnership is off to an exciting start, and we are elated to share details of its second edition. The Elgin Symphony Orchestra’s 2024-25 season will bring you 6 great classics programs featuring:

• Ravel’s hypnotic Bolero.

• Internationally acclaimed superstar Joyce Yang as soloist for Grieg’s impassioned Piano Concerto.

• Tchaikovsky’s searing “Pathétique” Symphony.

• Beethoven’s virtuosic Violin Concerto.

• The bracing Fifth Symphony of Jean Sibelius.

• Gustav Holst’s sonic, celestial showpiece The Planets.

This is the first season programmed entirely by ESO Music Director Chad Goodman, who will conduct these concerts at the Hemmens Cultural Center.

"The 75th anniversary season is a celebration year for us, and we’ve found multiple opportunities throughout the season to go all out," Goodman said. "In addition to many exciting new pieces, the season is filled with gateway pieces that made people fall in love with classical music, such as Tchaikovsky’s 'Pathétique' Symphony, Ravel's Bolero, and Holst’s The Planets."

This marks just the initial note in our 75th Season. You can anticipate a season of excitement with additional concerts, including the perennial favorite Holiday Spectacular, memorable Pops Concerts, and engaging community performances. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements as we unveil more musical wonders.
