Masterclasses with Internationally Renowned Guest Artists
Free admission, no advance registration required.
A Master Class is given to students of a particular discipline by an expert. If you are a
teacher, a player, or someone with an interest in the learning process, you will be fascinated to
watch and listen to up and coming young, area performers develop their skills and musicianship as they work with ESO internationally renowed guest artists in front on an audience.

Amy Porter, Flute

Acclaimed by the New York Times as "a particularly strong performer, technically robust and musically forceful", and
echoed by American Record Guide as "a charismatic and highly skilled performer", flutist Amy Porter has established
herself as one of the leading artists of today through her innovative solo concerts and notable collaborations with the
world's top composers. Ms.Porter came to international attention in 2001 when she won the Deuxieme Prix at the
Paris/Ville d'Avray International Flute Competition in France. She also won the Kobe International Flute Competition
in Japan in 1993 and the jury awarded her the prize for Best Performance of the Commissioned Work. Currently, she
holds the position of Professor of Flute at the University of Michigan. She was awarded the 2006 Henry Russel Award
from the University of Michigan for distinguished scholarship and conspicuous ability as a teacher. This is only the
third time since 1926 that this award has been given to a Professor in the School of Music and the first time ever
awarded to a performing artist.

With a valid student ID students can purchase $10 tickets to any ESO regular season concert.

STUDENT GROUP DISCOUNTS
Bring your class to an ESO performance! If you’d like we can arrange extra activities surrounding the performance such as a pizza party or opportunity to meet the evening’s guest artist.
